CHILDREN AT ST ANDREW’S

At St Andrew’s we aim to support children and families through various groups and activities.
This page tells you about some of the things that are going on.
Please get in touch if you would like to know more.

Family Eucharist

First Sunday of every month 10.30am

This is a new Sunday Service for the whole family. It is shorter and more simple than usual with an emphasis on whole family involvement. A Creche is available in the children’s corner for younger children, and there is a children’s talk instead of the usual sermon. Please join us after the service for refreshments and a chat.

Parish Eucharist

Children are always welcome at our regular 10.30am Parish Eucharist. Please feel free to bring your child to Church. Don’t worry or feel embarrassed if your child cries or is noisy, our congregation are very used to young children and are very understanding.

We offer some special activities for children during the service:-

St Andrew’s Sunday Club

The Sunday Club provides an alternative Sunday worship for children attending the 10.30am Parish Eucharist. It offers a structured, but flexible and fun form of learning for all children aged between 4 and 11.

Through story and practical activities it teaches children about faith in God, the teachings of Jesus, bible stories, and the traditions of the Church. The theme for each Sunday Club session is based on the readings taking place in the Eucharist upstairs.

Through their attendance at Sunday Club children develop Christian friendships and grow to become members of the Christian Family. This is an important way in which parents can fulfil the promises they make at Baptism to teach their children about the Christian faith, so that they will be able to make an informed decision to come to confirmation at an appropriate age, entering fully into the life of the Church as faithful Christians.

Children attending the Sunday Club sit in the front rows of the Church at the start of the 10.30am service, and then leave to continue their activities downstairs at the beginning of the first reading.

 Everyone is welcome.

        St Andrew’s Crèche

A Crèche is available every Sunday for very young children and is situated at the back of Church.          Parents can stay with their children or leave them in the hands of capable helpers. There are toys, games and books available to keep children of all ages engaged.

A GUIDE TO WHAT’S ON DURING THE WEEK!

St Andrew’s Toddlers meet every Friday morning in school term time between 10am and 12pm in St Andrew’s Church Hall.

Anyone with babies and children of under school age is welcome to attend. There is carpeted area for the very young as well as space for the older children to enjoy playing together.

The group offers an ideal place for your child to develop their social skills whilst parents/grandparents/minders get the chance to meet with new people.

The session always includes a drink of juice and biscuits for the children and coffee and tea (and biscuits) for the adults. Songs are usually sung together as well!

The Toddlers Group is organised and run by the Parish Reader Mr John Tarrant. Look out on the Church notice boards for information about the Toddlers and when they will be meeting.

You can contact John with any questions or queries at:
